- Information received from ABATE of Colorado on 4/23/03:
- Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum is offered by ABATE of Colorado.
Courses for the beginning rider as well as the experienced rider are
available. Helmets, gloves, long sleeved shirt, long pants, eye protection
as well as sturdy over the ankle shoes are required for all riding
sessions. Helmets are available for student use. Pre-registration and
pre-payment are required. With less than 48 hours notice your tuition is
NOT refundable or transferable to another date.
BEGINNING RIDER CLASS
This 18 hour Motorcycle Basic Rider Course is designed with the new or
unlicensed rider in mind. We begin with the most basic information on
motorcycle controls and operation and continue to include modules on street
strategies, obstacle avoidance and braking skills. We provide the
motorcycles for this course and administer the written and driving test for
your Colorado motorcycle license at the end of the class. This is a
mentally and physically demanding course -- please be prepared. Recent
bicycle riding experience is assumed. Classes meet on Friday 5:45-9 p.m.
and Sat & Sun 7:45 a.m.-5 p.m. Weekday classes are available at some
locations. Starting times are definite, but ending times may be adjusted
due to weather or class progress. Call for availability. Cost is $180.00
for Colorado residents ($225 for nonresidents). Valid Colorado Drivers
License or Instructional Permit is required.
EXPERIENCED RIDER CLASS SCHEDULE
This 8-hour course is designed for the licensed rider with a year or more
road experience and is conducted on your own motorcycle. Completion of the
basic course is not required. The course helps the experienced rider
improve riding skills and increase riding enjoyment by developing the
mental and physical skills found lacking in the accident involved rider.
Motorcycle registration, proof of insurance, and a valid motorcycle license
are required for enrollment. Cost is $45.00 for Colorado residents ($90 for
non-residents). Discounts may be available for organizations that pay for
12 people at once. Call (303) 789-3264 for details.
